Mum’s Pet Hate

Fun Rhymes

Julie Valentine

March 1985

If I were asked to vote for the absolute worst thing to be invented in the 20th Century it would have to be this.

MUM’S PET HATE

Dirty white, what a sight, whoever put it there On the landing, in the kitchen Lurking on the stair.

What’s inside it, can’t abide it, more than I can bear. On the landing, in the kitchen and the bottom of the stair.

Rotten apples, muddy clothing, whatever is that smell ? On the landing, in the kitchen And the stair as well.

Mum is raging, war a waging, picks it up and flings it, from them landing and the kitchen Whilst her hands she rings.

Space invading, all pervading, earth polluting thing, On the landing, in the kitchen Her voice is heard to sing.

I would like to meet the man, he must have been a drag, To invent this monstrous object Yes, a plastic bag.
